The 2010 Architectural Showcase highlights athletic facilities built or renovated in the past
three years. The wellness center, which opened in March 2009, is among five college and
university athletic facilities listed in the magazine.
The facility is a three-story, 110,000 square foot building which features a
state-of-the-art fitness center, three swimming pools, and spa services in conjunction with medical
offices and physical therapy services. “The design effectively integrates each wellness
amenity while maintaining the identity of the individual spaces,” according to the
Architectural Showcase. It goes on to say the wellness center’s “clean, bold,
contemporary geometry emphasizes a new direction in health and wellness
facilities.”
All of the fitness and recreation facilities featured in the magazine will be judged this summer
by a panel of sports, recreation, and fitness facility architects. Ten winners will be
announced in the December 2010 issue of Athletic Business magazine.
