LECOM DO Applications Procedure
Individuals interested in applying to the Lake Erie College of
Osteopathic Medicine for LECOM Erie, including LECOM at Seton Hill, or LECOM Bradenton must
complete an online application through the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine
Application Service (AACOMAS) and a LECOM Supplemental Application. All applicants must complete the
AACOMAS application in order to access the LECOM Supplemental Application.
AACOMAS Application
LECOM participates in a
centralized application service, the American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine
Application Service (AACOMAS), for the collection of application information. All interested
applicants must complete a web-based application. The AACOMAS service collates materials, computes
grades and transmits standardized information to the applicant as well as to LECOM. AACOMAS takes
no part in the evaluation, selection or rejection of applicants. Individuals interested in applying
to LECOM should begin the application process by applying to the AACOMAS On-Line Application at https://aacomas.aacom.org/ . Additional
information about AACOMAS and the AACOMAS On-Line Application can be obtained by contacting:
AACOMAS, 5550 Friendship Boulevard, Suite 310, Chevy Chase, MD 20815-7231, (301) 968-4100.
LECOM Supplemental Application
LECOM requires all
applicants to submit a LECOM Supplemental Application. Once LECOM receives the AACOMAS Application,
applicants will receive an e-mail message providing information and instructions to complete the
Supplemental Application. The e-mail message will include a username and password to access the
secure LECOM Candidate Portal to complete the Supplemental Application and submit the $50.00
non-refundable application fee. Payment of the $50.00 application fee is required at the time you
submit your application. The LECOM Supplemental Application should only take a few minutes to
complete and we encourage applicants to complete the process as soon as possible. The deadline date
for submitting the LECOM Supplemental Application is April 1, 2009.
To complete the
admissions application process, you will also need to submit letters of recommendation. LECOM
requires a letter of recommendation from an osteopathic physician and a letter of recommendation
from pre-health professions advisor or pre-professional committee letter. If you are unable to
obtain a pre-professional committee letter, you may submit two letters of recommendation from
undergraduate or graduate college/university science professors.
Applicants are encouraged
to complete their applications as early as possible to receive early consideration or an interview.
Applicants selected for a personal on-campus interview will be notified in writing from the Office
of Admissions. Applicant interviews will be conducted October through April. The College uses a
rolling admission cycle. As candidates are interviewed, notifications of acceptance are mailed to
selected applicants.
