Health Sciences Program Leading to the Post Baccalaureate Certificate
LECOM offers a unique educational program in Erie. The Health Sciences Program is a
two-semester post baccalaureate certificate program designed to enhance the basic science
credentials of students interested in medical college or pharmacy school. All coursework is
conducted on the LECOM campus by the medical and pharmacy school faculties.
Students
enroll in the LECOM Health Sciences Program to prepare for entry into a medical or pharmacy school
by supplementing a non-science undergraduate record. Students also have the opportunity to
demonstrate added competence in the required sciences for medical or pharmacy school. With a proven
record of success, the health sciences program at LECOM continues to place the majority of its
students in medical, pharmacy, and health professional schools nationwide.
Continuing Your Health Care Career
Health Sciences students are encouraged
to enhance their education by applying to the LECOM College of Medicine or School of Pharmacy. The
majority of students who complete the LECOM program have earned admission into LECOM or other
medical and pharmacy programs.
In addition to academic credentials, other criteria
play a role in the admissions process to professional schools. Successful completion of the Health
Sciences Program does not guarantee admissions to the medical or pharmacy programs at LECOM. The
College will give consideration for interviews to successful Health Sciences candidates who meet
all other admissions standards and requirements.
Accreditation
The Health Sciences Program is a two-semester, non-degree certificate program authorized by the
Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Education.
